Quantitative Easing or Fed Tapering and Its Impact on India

In order to kick start the engine of growth by cajoling the investors and consumers alike and keeping the long term interest rate subdued U.S Federal Reserve had announced the securities and treasury buying programme during the recession period 2008-09. Till now, through the successive enhancement of its bond buying programme known as QE1,QE2, QE3 Fed had committed to inject $85 billion of money every month. In its latest move it has decided to taper it by $10 billion to $ 75 billion. This gradually easing of the bond buying programme is known as Quantitative easing or popularly as Fed tapering.
It is quite evident that the Fed quantitative easing is solely based on the U.S economy which has been gradually showing the sign of recovering from recession. But as the capital barriers progressively being lowered in the fast globalizing world, the flood of money released through bond buying programme sought and found opportunities providing higher rate of return, where ever possible.
Countries who need the capital to fund its own growth, welcomed this capital. India too, became its one of the beneficiaries and has received around $31 billion of money only after QE3 easing in the stock market. Pertinently, It helped India to mange its current account deficit as well as it played a significant role for balancing the Balance of Payment.
Consequently, In the month of May-June decision of easing out the bond buying programme by the federal reserve created the havoc in the global markets. India too felt its burnt as it witnessed a heavy fall in rupee amid fears of pull out of FII's money as well as widening current account deficit. Moreover, policy paralysis and long queue of mummified ,stagnating projects further blurred its path of recovery.
At the same time, this programme has a brighter side also, as it indirectly showing the recovery of U.S economy thus opening up the gate of opportunities. So its high time that India should start to set its house in order, as stronger U.S means more opportunities of technology transfer, growth in exports , therefore, attract larger and more stable foreign flows. In the end, I can say irrespective of the short term consequences of Fed taper a stronger U.S economy is the blessing for the global economy.

Role and Responsibilities of the Bank PO

As all of you know that from 2 Jan onwards IBPS is going to conduct the interviews for the selected candidates.During the whole process candidate is going to be judge on various parameters along with the banking knowledge  which I am going to update soon.

But before preparing oneself for the interview, a candidate must be well acquainted with the roles and the responsibilities of the probationary officer so that one can prepare his/her answers accordingly.

As all of you know  Probationary Officer (PO) in the bank is the starting level appointment for bank officers and the promotional prospects are quite healthy with the work as it defining the limit for the candidate's success. Job profile of PO (Probationary Officer) is General Banking, administration work and any other work assigned by the Bank from time to time. In Public Sector Banks, A Bank PO can be asked to do anything till the completion of its probation period. After the confirmation he/she can give tasks having routine work like posting, scrolling or advances or anything that is related to banking. He/she generally assigned to various responsibilities, as directed by the Sr. Manager. They are trained for accounting, marketing, finance, investment as well as billing.

Moreover, The Bank PO also work on increasing other aspects of the bank's business such as the loan department, the the mortgage and finance divisions of the bank. Handling customer complaints and issues is also the responsibility of the Bank PO. Often this means dealing with complaints over issues such as charges, discrepancies in accounts, or even in complaints with service at the bank. Good communication skills and an ability to resolve conflicts calmly is essential for a Bank PO.

Probationary Officers are generalists. Unlike specialists, they are posted in different departments of a branch to gather knowledge on all aspects of banking and also to remove the monotony inherent in the job of a specialist. An important post, that of a branch manager, generally  occupied by a PO.

Also, There will be promotion opportunities in every 3-4 years. Bright candidates can easily enter into senior management in a span of 12-14 years. So, candidates who are looking for bank jobs should understand that performance and attitude are always appreciated in Banks and as they say SKY IS THE LIMIT for the top performers.

IBPS PO:Trend Analysis and previous year papers

IBPS PO do not need any kind of introduction that how lucrative career it can provide to the aspirants. To enter into this remunerative carrier one need to clear IBPS PO written test. After clearing IBPS PO written test one become eligible to apply for PO position in one of 19 public sector banks. In this article I willl be providing you the detailed format of the examination and some do's and don'ts plus IBPS Probationary Officer (PO) Previous Year Question Papers. All the details for this are given below.

IBPS PO Exam format
The first step in preparation for any examination is to know about format of exam. You can plan your preparation if you know format of exam.IBPS PO format have changed over the years. So you should always look at current year format.I have shown current year IBPS PO exam format in below table.
Section 2013 (online test)
Reasoning 50
English Language 40
Quantitative Aptitude (Maths + DI) 50
General Awareness (+ Banking Awareness) 40
Computer Knowledge 20
Descriptive Paper of English removed
Total Marks 200
Time-limit (minutes) 120

    Sectional cutoff =  yes
Negative markingMinus 0.25% per wrong answer.

A brief summary of Important topics:

1.General  Awareness   1.Banking awareness theory
2.Economy current affairs
2.Computer 1.MS Office version from 2007 to 2013
2.Internet related topics
3.Reasoning 1.High level reasoning (Syllogism + assumption/inference)
2.Sitting arrangement
4.Quantitative aptitude  1.Calculation Intensive
2.Data interpretation (DI)
5.General Awareness (+ Banking Awareness) 1.Grammar rules + Sentence correction
2.Daily practice of comprehension + Sentence Correction +Arrangement.

Things one must keep into his mind while preparing for the exam:

Time Management:

As one has to attempt 200 questions in 120 min (approx 0.6 min per question ). So proper distribution of time is important for each section.Since Each question has equal weight-age in terms of marks ,one can maximize its results in lesser time by first attempting sections like Computer Knowledge and General Awareness which can be solved in less time with little preparation compared to other section.

Sectional Cut off

Second and most important point is sectional cut off.Often candidates do forget this during IBPS PO written exam. For example if one scored nearly 70% marks in all the sections but less than 10% in one or another section he is not qualified despite he is through with the overall cutoff .So clearing sectional cut off in all sections should be first and foremost thing one should keep in mind in IBPS PO written exam.
Normally 50% is considered as sectional cut off marks in any section(to be on safer side ).So your first aim should be to clear the sectional cut off. Moreover, IBPS has also introduced concept of TWSS (Total Weight age standard score). They create a minimal TWSS score based on performance of candidates that year. You should score above TWSS to get an interview call.So your first aim is to clear sectional cut off and second is to score as much marks as possible.

Question Selection

Third important point is each question carry equal marks. So utmost care should be taken while selecting the questions. One should avoid time consuming questions in first attempt.Easy questions should be attempted first and then complex ones. One must try his best not to show ego to the question

Yeah question mujhe ata hai mai to solve karke rahunga.... like this shitty things

If you are not able to solve that question my sincere suggestion is that move on ,in your life you will get enough chances to show off your ego thus save it for future ....

Negative Marking

IBPS PO written exam has negative marking.Negative marking means one fourth of marks in deducted for every wrong answer. For example out of 10 questions if you have 5 correct answers but 5 wrong answers then your total marks is (5 – 5* .25) = 3.75.This is really important.
So it is very important not to guess answers. If you have answered decent number of questions to clear sectional cut off then there is no need of all these.Instead of guessing and marking answers try one or two questions which you can solve and are in section you answered less.

Practice Practice and more Practice

There is no shortcut available for any exam one has to emphasize upon only on practice to beat such exams ,the more you practice more is the chance to conquer upon one's mistakes . So its my suggestion that before going to the examination hall its better if you join any test series(there are plenty of them available on the net), and make a workable strategy how to approach the exam.

Why Rupee is falling and measurs to contain its depreciation.

Recently depreciating of rupee becomes the major point of concern for Indian economy. The USD/INR exchange rate depreciated 9% during this Monsoon Session, hitting a record low of INR 68 to a dollar on August 28 .At the same time it is also depreciated 11% against the British Pound and 8% against the Euro during this session, thus forces government in general and RBI in particular  to take some harsh fiscal and monetary steps to arrest its downturn.

Impact of Depreciation of Rupee on Indian Economy

1) High Inflation --->  affecting the price of imported goods, especially of oil. --> thus high Current Account Deficit CAD

2) However, it will boost exports--> improving the Current Account Deficit (CAD),but overall impact is low due to global recession and poor available infrastructure.

Reasons  for the decline in the value of the Rupee

  • Large Current Account deficit: The current account (net exports of goods and services, remittances, and net dividend payments) has been in a deficit continuously for the last eight years. Falling growth rate of Indian exports, coupled with a sharp rise in imports, especially of crude oil and gold, have increased this deficit.
  • Weakening capital inflows: The capital account (the net flow of funds through equity investments and borrowings) surplus has been used to finance the current account deficit for many years.  Capital inflows have reduced due to the improving economic situation in the US and other developed countries.Investors are exiting developing markets in expectation of the US Federal Reserve increasing the interest rates, impacting the currencies of emerging markets, like India, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa.
  • Inflation: Part of the depreciation is attributable to the adjustment of the rupee exchange rate to the inflation differential, i.e. India’s relatively high rate of inflation versus other economies.

Steps taken by the RBI and the government of India to stabilize the currency markets

Issue Details
Capital Outflow The RBI reduced the limit for outbound investment and remittances from India.
Encouraging Capital Inflows RBI has removed administrative restrictions on investment schemes offered by
banks to non-resident Indians, and removed ceiling on interest rates on deposit
accounts held by NRIs.The government liberalised the FDI limits for 12 sectors,
including oil and gas.A Bill is pending in the Parliament to revise the FDI limit to
49% in the insurance sector.
RBI increased the current overseas borrowing limit for banks from 50% to 100%,
and allowed it to be converted into rupees and hedged with the RBI at concessional
rate.
RBI also allowed banks to swap fresh NRI dollar deposits with a minimum duration

Facts about Polygon

Some of all angles of polygon with 'n' side= (2n-4)*90
Sum of Interior and exterior angles of a polygon= I+E=180
Each Exterior angle=360/n
Each Interior angle =180-360/n

Triangle Properties
Assume a Tringle having sides a,b,c where

R= Circum Radius : r= Inradius ; s=(a+b+c)/2  ; A= Area of triangle
Sine Rule     :  a/SinA=b/SinB=c/SinC= 2R
Cosine Rule  :  a2=b2+c2 -2bcCosA
Area             :  1/2 bcSinA
Important Formula  :  abc/4A=R  and r=A/s  one of the favorite formula of examiners.

For Equilateral Triangle

Area Height R r
Sqrt3/4 side*2 Sqrt3/2 side Side/Sqrt3 Side/2Sqrt3

OrthoCenter  Meeting point of all altitudes

angle BOC  + angle A = 180 = angle C + angle AOB

Incenter  angle BOC = 1/2 angle A + 90
